Mother Moon
A poem after a time of transition for these longer nights
She illuminates the tranquil night
Surrounded by stars sprinkled like children eager at storytime
What will she share tonight?
Her light bright, does not outshine
Rather, it increases the unique glow of each spark
Room enough to gather close, take position
Oh, this one is a favorite
We love this one! They flash
Her tales draw creatures high and below
A blinking plane hovers for a moment as if to blend into the crowd
The pilots revel in a fancied freedom shared only amongst the winged
The deer and its fawn emerge from dry brush to peer golden, elongated necks toward the call
She beckons in commanding grace
Mesmerized, I listen, the tea now cooled and forgotten
Luminous is the liquid infused with her wisdom
If only I reach for a sip would I understand a moment of mystery
Gentle edged craters carry the magnificence of the Sun
She is Him and He is Her
But it is Mother Moon that mines the shadows with firm transparency
Excavating love with light
Her message, to be consumed
Then released in tears at dawn
Silky coats bear hearts exposed
Now pour the solvent learned
Yearning to be filled again
For the promise of Her
If she will return to the black sky
Guiding us once more to divine

This is beautiful Shaista.
I love this line in particular:
"Gentle edged craters carry the magnificence of the Sun"
Hi Shaista, l am sitting with this beautiful poem … and feeling into the layers unfolding. Sitting at the airport, not in the most conducive environment, except it is bringing me comfort - l saw a friend off today, back to live in the States, and l am off to NZ for a short break. I will carry this poem into flight. Thank you 🙏🏼🖤
